No comments? Everybody still sleeping?
Okay, then I have one:There's one thing that still bothers me enormously. I mentioned it a long time ago, but there was no response:
When I open a new tab in Opera and then close it again, the focus jumps back to the tab that was last in the foreground. That works. But when I click on a link from another program (e.g., an email program), it opens as a new tab in Opera. After reading and closing it, Opera doesn't jump back to the last tab that was in the foreground, but to the one on the far right.
If you have more than 60 tabs open, it's very annoying to have to manually search for and click on the desired tab with the mouse or keyboard each time. Especially when you're reading emails in the morning and then keep clicking on individual reports and want to read in detail.
Opera, maybe you can finally address this behavior.
W11x64, Operax64 (usually minimized in the task bar)

@ralf-brinkmann:
Thank you for your comment and for bringing this issue to our attention. The behavior you're describing with tabs can indeed be frustrating, especially with numerous tabs open and when juggling between different tasks. To help us better understand and address the issue, could you please clarify if the tab causing the problem was opened within a Tab Island? This information might help us pinpoint the behavior more accurately.
We appreciate your feedback!

Daria, no, I don't use this feature. They are all normal tabs and it doesn't matter where from I start opening a link. Opera is always running (in the background or minimized in the taskbar) and this behaviour is always the same.

What if we let the animated background play all the time instead of stopping when I open a new tab?

I have 5 tab workspaces, and since Opera first introduced them, I've seen a bug where sometimes tabs that were moved from the main workspace to additional ones are moved back to where they were first opened after opening the browser again. In the latest update, I manually reopened all the tabs in the workspaces where they should be. Let's see if that helps.

For the love of God and all humanity turn off the vexing message every time the browser is started: "The extension upgrade requires additional permissions. Go to the extensions manager to accept the upgrade".

@oP2 Sometimes that's just a bug that Opera has to sort out. Other times though, you can fix it yourself.
Close Opera and make sure there are no Opera processes open in the Windows Task Manager.
Then, hit Windows key + r to open the run dialog, type
cmd
and press enter to open a command prompt. Then, type:
"%localappdata%\Programs\Opera developer\opera.exe" --show-component-extension-options
and press enter to start Opera.
Once Opera is started, goto the URL
opera://extensions
, turn on developer mode and click "Update" at the top of the page. Further, scroll through the list of extensions on the page and see if there are any separate update buttons for any extensions and click the buttons. Once done, restart Opera. -
